Abstract
“Healing Light” is a collaborative exhibition that showcases the creative talents of Nicha Wiboonpote (@nextyeariwill) and Yanisa Niennattrakul (@dr.honeyyanisa), which employ diverse embroidery and cyanotype techniques to convey their unique visions. This showcase explores the multifaceted concept of light, interpreting it as a powerful medium for artistic expression and a therapeutic instrument for healing. The first perspective harnesses “light” as a potent artistic medium, providing a means to express form amid the world’s chaos. The second perspective underscores the importance of art and craftsmanship in self-reflection and rejuvenation, contributing to the healing process. Ultimately, this exhibition serves as an inspiring starting point for overcoming fears and embarking on a journey of self-discovery.
Nicha Wiboopote (@nextyeariwill) experiments with embroidery patterns inspired by the shapes, forms, and details found in Thai architecture. These patterns are visual spectacles and tangible representations of cultural narratives, philosophies, and spiritual wisdom. Weaving stories into textures and forms through threads and needles allows Nicha to explore and investigate these intricate details.
Yanisa Niennattrakul (@dr.honeyyanisa) explores reflection and autoethnography techniques from her PhD thesis, “Design and Assessment Tool of an Enabling Environment for Dementia Care.” She uses cyanotype and other mixed media as her healing and educational tools to create a new perspective and definition of humanity, empathy, and spirituality.
The exhibition will take place at Palette Artspace (Thonglor BTS station) from 7/12/2023 to 18/12/2023. Please feel free to join us 🙂
